DIPHTHERIA.

A SEVERE TYPE. Cases have occurred in Palmerston North recently of diphtheria of a more severe type than that usually encountered, and several have terminated fatally. The disease, it is stated, is not more prevalent than is usual; it is just that it is apparently of a severer type, although there are slightly above the average number of cases in the hospital. Parents, it is pointed out, would be well advised to refer all cases of sore throats among their children to medical men.
