EXCEPTIONAL GALE.
DAMAGE IN DUNEDIN. > MANY DWELLINGS SUFFER. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN April 26. A north-west gale of exceptional force swept the city and suburbs on Sunday evening and many - dwellings suffere d. Sheets of iron were torn loose and fences blown- down. The front portion of tire roof of a -building measuring 45 feet by 25 feet was torn adrift and si eets of iron were hurled through the air in all directions, some being carried 300 yards. At Anderson's Bay 5.0 feet of the front portion of the infant school of the roof was torn from the rafters.
