HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETINGS.

FEILDING SCHOOLS

(Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, April 22. Mr J. Penney presided over a large meeting of householders interested in the Lytton Street School at Feilding last night. The report was read ana on the motion of the chairman adopted. The following oommittee was elected: —Mesdamee Sandford and McCorkindale, Messrs Hay, Parsonage, Harding, Tingey, Fitzgerald, Heald and Penny. • At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr J. Penney was re-elected chairman.

MANCHESTER STREET SCHOOL. •Mr H. Mclntyre presided over the meeting of the householders at- the Manchester Street School where, after being read, the report was favourably commented upon and adopted. The committee were re-elected unopposed as follows: —Mesdames F. Bellman, G. Fitzpatrick, Messrs W. Barker, J. Campbell, P. B. Desmond, G. Fitzpatrick, E. P. Hosking, W. Quayle and W. Rayworth. Mr H. Mclntyre was re-elected chairman.

CHELTENHAM

Meesra Jaggard (chairman), Dermer, Shannon, Christensen and Draper were elected a committee for the Cheltenham School.

IN OTHER PLACES

Taikorea School. —Tho following committee was elected: —Messrs. E. C. Print, W. Pryor, E. Parlato, J. "Wheeler and J. L. Mudford. At a subsequent meeting Mr. J. L. Mudford was elected chairman pro tern. Waituna We6t. —Messrs. J. H. Williamson (chairman), M. Berriman, jr. (secretary and treasurer), P. R. Chandler. Chas. Penteny and J. W. Batcbelar. Kopane.—The previous committee were returned at a representative meeting of householders. The annual report and financial statement were adopted as read. The committee comprises: Messrs. F. J. Boddy, (chairman), L. B. Wall, S. Morris, E. J. Morgan and G. G. Brook. Newbury.—As is usual, there was a small attendance at tho householders meeting. It was decked, after a brief discussion, that the old oommittee be re-elected as follow: Messrs. E. W. Collins (chairman), John Cheetham (secretary and treasurer), James Cheetham, A. Harrowfield and A. Woodley. The annual report stated that the school grounds generally were in good order, but future work that might be undertaken was the extension of the asphalting portion. The roll number now stood at 80, but the attendance during theyear had been affected by sickness. The present junior room was too small and its condition was unfair both to the pupils and the staff. The incoming oommittee should again make application for the enlargement of the school. During the year Mrs Bagnall resigned, and Miss E. Ashby was appointed in her stead. The annual picnic was held at the end of March, and it proved a great success. The oommittee wished to thank all those who had contributed to the picnic funds (the donations allowing every pupil to receive a book) and those who had donated prizes. A number of the boys were taking part in the mangold competition, and they were doing good work. During the winter months the children were supplied with hot cocoa. The finanoes were in a sound position, the credit-balance being £l9 14s Id. Fitzherbert East. —The election at the Fitzherbert East School householders’ meeting resulted in the appoints ment of the following committee: Messrs. F. Lankshear, (chairman, reelected), C. Woodley, (secretary), W. Anderson, R. R. Scott and J. Woods. Taonui. —The old committee was reelected as follows: —Messrs R. A. McFarland (chairman and secretary), A. Campbell, E. Clevley, F. Davenport, M. Durie.

Utuwai School. —At a good attendance of householders the yetiring chairman (Mr A. Corpe) wan cordially thanked for his efficient services while in the chair and for the great interest he has always shown in the welfare of the school. The new committee comprises: Messrs J. Shore (chairman), A. Corpe (treasurer), J. Enright, A- Hickson and J. McEwen. Bunnythorpe. The Bunnythorpe School Committee was elected as follows:—Messrs W. T. Maxwell (chairman), L. Pascoe (secretary), J. Scheidt (treasurer), H. J. Dixon, A. Polkinghorne, W. Eggleton and F. Burton. Te Arakura.—There was a fair attendance of householders, who elected the following committee: Messrs H. Bennett (re-elected chairman), J. H. Bennett, P. Hansen (secretary and treasurer), P. o’Regan, W. E. Thomas. There were two retiring members— Messrs Lewer and Hazelwood, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their past services. Eulogistic reference was also made concenring the work of the headmistress, Miss Bailey, and her assistant, Miss Edwards.

TIAKITAHUNA SCHOOL.

/(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIAKITAHUNA, April 22. The ainnual householders’ meeting was held in the school last evening when there was an attendance of 15 householders. Mr I>. Rowland took the chair. The secretary read the balance-sheet, which was adopted as read. A warm discussion as to the spending of surplus picnic moneys took place. Many proposals and amendments were lost. Finally, on the motion of Messrs Morley and Hawke, it was resolved that voting papers be sent to parents as to the spending of the surplus. The selection of a picnio site for next year was left in the hands of the incoming committee. The following were candidates for election, five only being required: Messrs D. Rowland, A. Matheson, P. Parker, B. Morley, M. Voss, W. Rowland, M. Richardson and W. Jeffrey, and the flolowing were elected: Messrs D. Rowland, R. Parker, B. Mor ley M. Voss and A. Matheson. FOXTON SCHOOL.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ... FOXTON April 22. > The new committee elected comprises Messrs J. K. Hornblow (chairman), M. E. Perreau, A. Alsop, R. Rangiheuea, A." G. Huntley, A. W. Stevenson, H: Hutchins! Jno. Ross and S. E. Cowley. The annual report, after dealing with improvement* to the sohool area, recommended the incoming committee to plant a live hedge along the western boundary before the season was too far advanced. There still remained a considerable amount of work to be done to put the playing areas in first-class order, and funds would have to be raised for this purpose.

SANDON SCHOOL,

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, April 22. The annual meeting of householders was held last night when the attendance was only moderate. The annual report showed that the general fund commenced the year with a credit balance of £1 3s 9d and at the end of the financial year there was a debit of £1 17s 2d. The special

account commenced with a credit of £6 Is 5d and.ended with a.debit of £4 7s Id. These debits have been cleared off" by special donations and the new year started with a email credit. The school garden and surroundings were in good order. Speaial thanks were due to the ladies who organised the children’s fancy dress ball in aid of the prize fund. The report and balancesheet were adopted. For the new committee a nomination of nine was received and resulted in the re-election of the old committee, consisting of Messrs W. E. Pearce, F. W. Tostevin, J. W. Masters, H. Oppatt and A. Anderson. At a meeting of the new committee Mr. W. E. Pcaroe was re-elected chairman' and Mr F. W. Tostevin secretary. i
