TOWN WATER SUPPLY.
(Published by Arrangement.)
Consideration will shortly be given a further water loan, but whether it will be advisable to spend 6uch a large sum of money will rest with the ratepayers themselves. Opinion is divided, but Messrs Parkinson and Rasmussen, the biggest, oldest established, and best equipped firm of well-borers in New Zealand, have once again proved that Palmerston North has an abundance of water, of the best quality. Yesterday this firm finished putting down one of the finest wells in the district at Hansel’s bacon factory, in Maire Street, striking a magnificent flow at 375 feet, of 220 gallons per minute or 316,800 gallons per day. It is interesting to note that at between 17D-174 feet, timber 18in and Ift diameter was met with. Messrs Parkinson and Rasmussen extend an invitation to ratepayers, councillors and members of all local bodies to inspect this wonderfull well during the next few days. The firm has several large well-boring plants and is prepared to undertake this work in any part of the' North Island.
