QUESTION IN THE COMMONS.
Received April 13, 8.45 a.m. LONDON, April 12. In the House of Commons, Sir Newton Moore asked whether any records existed in the War Office as to orders issued to general officers of the Australian forces in war time regarding penalties that would ne inflicted on machine gunners who might be guilty of quitting their posts. Sir Worthington-Evans: There is no record of such an order. He added that lie had conferred with the member of Parliament who originally made the statement in the House of Commons. Both were satisfied that • the document they saw did not necessarily bear the interpretation placed on it.— A. and N.Z. cable.
