FEILDING NEWS

OPENING DAY OF GOLF CLUB. [Special to “Standard.”] FEILDING, April 8. The local Golf Club’s season will be opened to-morrow afternoon when a mixed foursome competition will be held. The entries for the game constitute a record for the club'and indicate that a successful season will be enjoyed. The president, Mr L. Gorton, has donated a trophy for the winners of to-morrow’s games. The course is reported to be in firstclass order, the fairways having been cleared of all rubbish and tall grass, leaving a beautiful green sward. With the exception, perhaps, of the Bth, the greens were never in better condition nnd are, in the opinion of an old golfer, “equal to those of a metropolitan course.” The club’s policy of encouraging junior players has resulted in a satisfactory increase in membership and as several older golfers are taking up tho game afresh, a very prosperous season fyir the club is assured.

RABBIT BOARDS’ ASSOCIATION. The fourth annunl conference of the New. Zealand Rabbit Boards’ Association is to be held in Feilding during the last week in April.
