TENDER ACCEPTED.

FOXTON-SHANNON BRIDGE.

TOTAL COST £23,822,

(Special to “Standard.”) . SHANNON, April 7. X At a meeting of the Shannon j Borough Council a letter was received from the district engineer to the Public Works Department stating that the amount of the accepted tender for the erection of the Foxton-Shannon bridge was £19,842. In addition to this amount, the estimated cost of surfacing the deck with bitumen waa £360. The estimated cost of the right bank bridge approach was £940, and the left bank bridge approach £2680., This made a total of £23,822, to be apportioned as follows: —Highway* Board £13,562, Manawatu County Council £4280, Horowhenua County Council £4280, Foxton Borough Council £BSO, Shannon Borough Council £BSO.

The Foxton and Shannon boroughs have agreed to contribute the fixed sum of £BSO each, but the first three items will be subject to slight alteration, according to the actual cost of the work.
