TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN.

GRACEFUL ACT BY DUKE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. A touching tribute to the memory of those who tell in the Great War was paid by the Duke of York to-da.y when he laid a wreath at the base ot the column on the Bridge of Remembrance. Shortly before 11 o’clock the Royal car unobtrusively drew on the bridge, and before the passers-by were aware of what was taking place the Duke stepped smartly to the pavement, placed the wreath, saluted and returned to his car. A small crowd quickly gathered and all stood with bared heads as he laid the wreath. The ceremony was not included in the day’s programme.
