HOME-MADE EXPLOSIVE.

HOUSE BLOWN UP. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 16. As a sequel to an explosion which blew up his house at Burwood last January, Edward Arthur Emmett was charged ,to-day with manufacturing explosives contrary to the provisions of the Act and fined 10s and costs. The police gave evidence that defendant bought nitrate of potash, chlorate of potash and sulphur from a druggist and mixed them for the purpose of blowing up logs. During the night the jar exploded and the houso was partly demolished.
