FAILS TO PAY HIS BILLS.
YOUNG MAN IN TROUBLE. DUNEDIN, March 12. An immaculately-dressed young man named Reginald O’Neill was charged at the Police Court with being an idle and disorderly person. Though ho had run up an hotel bill of £B, including £3 for wine, accused admitted that he had no money, stating that it was for appearances that he stopped at the best hotels. He was making his living by fashion displays, in which he had failed to interest local firms. Accused explained tha he used the name of West because it was his stage name in amateur theatricals. He asked for a chance to pay his accounts without conviction, winch would prejudice his business. The police stalfed that when interviewed accused said that he had worked some days at an hotel, in Christchurch. When he left there he owed board to another hotel. He made his last fashion display in Wellington in September. The magistrate adjourned tho case to see if accused took steps to liquidate his account, Remarking that the case almost amounted to one of false pretences.
