FEATHERSTON STREET SEWER.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Re Cr. Edwards’ letter in last night’s issue I must state, in fairness to “Clarence River,” that his statement is absolutely true. On Monday, the 21st inst., about 5 p.m., I saw water issuing from the manholes in Featherston Street to a height of six or seven inches. It is very evident something must be done to remedy this menace to the western side of the town as it is a disgrace to Palmerston North. Perhaps Or. Edwards did not inspect this locality during last year’s floods, or he would see the need of an improved sewerage system.—l am, etc., G. J. BENNETT. 17 Wood Street, Palmerston North. March 2, 1927.
