SOVIET REPLY.

MR MACDONALD INTERVIEWED. COUNTRIES’ RELATIONS BAD. LONDON, March 1. Mr Ramsay MacDonald, interviewed upon the Soviet reply, said that the relations of the two Governments were as bad as could be. “I take the Soviet note to mean that jjt is prepared to receive and discuss specific complaints. Why should it not be taken at its word? But I must say that the actions of the Third International cannot be regarded as altogether outside the responsibility of the Soviet Government. If Britain goes back to the position before the_ trade agreement was signed, Anglo-Russian trade will suffer and diplomatic difficulties will be enormously increased.” —A. and N.Z. cable.
