DOWN THE WANGANUI.

FRANCONIA’S PASSENGERS. RIVER SERVICES TAXED. WANGANUI, Feb. 22. In the past-two days 216 tourists from the steamer Franconia have arrived at Wanganui. Half of the party arrived yesterday, and the remainder to-day. They came via the Wanganui River, where the charming scenery delighted them. The party is by far the largest ever handled by the river services. Every available river boat and all the accommodation at Pipiriki House and the houseboat were commissioned, with the result that arrangements worked smoothly.
