CROQUET.
CLUB PAIRS TO MANAWATU,
The greens at tho Manawatu Club were heavy for the continuation of the Manawatu croquet tournament this morning, but play is being continued despite the inclement weather and the final stages are now being reached. In the club pairs (championship doubles) this afternoon W. J. Robertson and Mrs Robertson, of tho Manawatu Club, were successful after an excellent game. It is expected that the tourney will conclude to-morrow after eight days’ play. Tho following are the detailed results of to-day’s matches up till the time this edition went to press: CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Second Round. —W. J. Robertson and Mrs Robertson beat Mesdames McMurray and Owen, 26—21. Semi-finals. —W. J. Robertson .and Mrs Robertson beat Mesdames Pei*eau and Woods by default ; Mesdames Gambrill and Boyne beat Mesdames J. Young and Mayes, 26—16. Final.—W. J. Robertson and Mi’s Robertson (Manawatu > beat Mesdames Gambrill and Boyne (Northern), 26—9. HANDICAP SINGLES. A GRADE. ’ ' Semi-final.—Mrs Brown (3s) beat Mrs Spring (4]), 9—l. CHAMPION SINGLES. Second Round.—Mrs Kirk beat Mrs McMurray, 26—D.
