AUSTRALIAN BUSH FIRES. AWE-INSPIRING SPECTACLE. DENSE BLACK SMOKE IN TOWNSHIP. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received February 5, 10.25 a.m. MELBOURNE, Feb. 5. A change of wind fanned the bush fires near Beechworth into fresh activity and the hills presented an awe-in-spiring spectacle from all points of the compass. Dense black smoke was blown over the town. The position was slightly relieved by an outbreak at the township woolshed, being controlled as from this direction the greatest danger was feared.—Press Association. NEW SOUTH WALES OUTBREAK. A bush fire swept the Upper Murray for 25 miles from Corrvong and, fanned by a hot wind, ravaged miles of country, causing enormous damage. —Press Association.
