RANGITIKEI COUNTY
FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY. Per Press Association. MAIITON, Feb. 4. The 50th anniversary of tho ltangitikei County Council was celebrated yesterday by a gathering of ex-chair-men and ex-members of tho council. The party included Hon. E. Newman, Mr W. S. Glenn and Mr F. T. Hoeldy, M.P.’s, and Mr O. M. Galpin, a pioneer who settled in tho Rangitikei in 1856. . , An interesting historical sketch of tho county’s history was read by Mill. H. Richardson, who has been clerk for 34 years, showing tin- remarkable progress of what is now claimed to be the most important county in tlie Dominion.
