FRENCH PLANS.
ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE. HAULS TRAIN AT HIGH SPEED. PARIS, Dec. 29. A sixteen-wheeled electric- locomotive, used at the inauguration of the new Paris-Vieraon service, hauled a 400ton train 145 miles, at an average speed of 81 miles an hour. The power was supplied liydro-electrically. The service forms part of a coihprehensive plan to' render French railways independent of foreign coal.—Sydney Sun cable.
