DEEP-SEA FISHING IN THE NORTH. -> - RUSSELL, Dec. 29. New records have been established in connection with the deep-sea fishing sport, a swordfish and a black marlin having been Aaught before Christmas for the first time.

Among the catches reported lately are the following:—Commander A. It. Farquahar, H.M.S. Dunedin, mako shark, 2341 b; Mr Franklin P. Balt, Sydney, mako, 2741 b; Mr P. J. Urmeneta, Wisconsin, United States America, mako, 851 b; Lieutenant-Com-mander F. H. M. Vaughan, H.M.S. Dunedin, mako, 2201 b, and black marlin swordfish, 5101 b; Mr B. Scanned, Napier, hammerhead shark, 3961 b; Captain Mawson, mako, 2101 b.
