GERMAN PATENTS.
AIRSHIPS FOR BRITAIN. £IOO,OOO CLAIM FAILS. LONDON, Dec. 16. The German Luftfahrzug Company before the Anglo-German Tribunal claimed £IOO,OOO from Vickers, Ltd. for patents, materials and experience in respect of the pre-war construction of non-rigid airships. Herr Engberding, an airship expert, gave evidence that England was far behind in airship experience before the war, and obtained most of her early experience by the purchase of French and German . patents, which were rarely of great value unless they were accompanied by information resulting from experience. He contended that the agreement was cleverly drawn in favour of Vickers. Ho explained that the Germans abandoned building non-rigid airships during the war owing to the shortage of rubber, and not because they were unsatisfactory. The tribunal dismissed the claim, and awarded Vickers £11,991 in compensation for a prepaid buf. undelivered airship, and struck out the German company’s counter-claim for £6030 for royalties on airships which Vickers built from its patents.
