GETTING THE HABIT.

CANADA AND DIVORCE. SUITS MORE NUMEROUS. OTTAWA, Dec. 23. Divorce is increasing in Canada. In 1912 12 divorces were granted in the whole of Canada, while to-day 170 applications are pending from the eastern provinces alone, 100 of them being from wives.

Western Canadian courts, which in recent years have heard divorce causes, are glutted with hundreds of cases.

From 1915 up till the present time the number of divorce suits heard each year in New South Wales courts has ranged from 1000 to 1568, the latter number being reached last year. This year’s tally will be even higher. Canada, -at the 1921 census, had a population of 8,788,000, or more than four times that of New South Wales.
