DRAINAGE BOARDS.
ELECTION OF TRUSTEES. An election was held to-day by the Manawatu Drainage Board to determine the composition of the board for the ensuing term. The polling booth was at the board’s office Rangitikei street and the voting hours were from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. The candidates are Messrs H. J. Burrell, D- Collis, John Collis, E. W. Collins, M. A. Eliott, A. Guy, N. P. Nielsen, P. J. Small, R. Tanner and E. Wood. Of the number Messrs Eliott, Guy and Tanner are new candidates for honours, the remaining steven comprising the board before its term of office expired. A somewhat different position was forthcoming in connection with the election of trustees for the Oroua Drainage Board, for while seven trustees were sought, only five, residents offered their services, they being Messrs J. H. W. Claasen, G. H. Davir son, T. H. Dixon, J. Gloyn and C. Watkins. These five gentlemen were duly declared elected and further nominations called for, the closing hours for the receipt of same —noon to-day-—finding Messrs A. G. Gust, J. Hansen and L. Ponpard candidates tor-the two, remaining vacancies. An election will be held on Friday, November 12. '•
