TROUT FROM NEW ZEALAND

12,000-MILES JOURNEY TO DINNER TABLE. Sixty rainbow and brown trout, averaging iolb. in weight were brought jn ice from New Zealand for the annual dinner to-night of New Zealanders in London at the Hotel Victoria, Northumberland Avenue, AV.C., which the Duke of York will attend (says the London Daily Mail of Juno Bth). This is the first experiment of its kind, and the trout have been sent as a gift by the New Zealand Government alter being caught by Government anglers in Lake Taupo, the fishing centre in the North Island. To help in the experiment the New Zealand Shipping Company conveyed the fish from New Zealand —12,000 miles —free of charge. They arrived ill excellent condition. The New Zealand Government has also forwarded the ingredients for toheroa soup, so that the Duke of York will be able to taste what the Prince of AY ales regarded as the most delicious soup he had tasted. Ho was so fond of it that during his visit to New Zealand special supplies were always kept available for him, and “Prince of AVales” soup has almost displaced the Maori name.
