AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
POTENTIAL POSSIBILITIES. , EDUCATIONALISTS’ CONGRATULATIONS. “I want to congratulate Palmerston North on getting the agricultural college here,” stated Dr. Ranston, M.A., Doctor of Literature, of Auckland, prior to lecturing members of the Rotary Club this afternoon. “If you take things in the right way it will mean a great thing.” Dr. Ranston went on to state that he hoped that the citizens of Palmerston North would not be satisfied in just having an agricultural experimental station; he hoped that eventually they would have a university that would grant not only one kind of degree, but other kinds as well. A great privilege had been extended Palmerston North, and the added responsibility of having a centre that would play a big part in the history of New Zealand. “I think,” said Dr. Ranston, in conclusion, “that Pahnerfcton North, has been passing through a crisis. I think that eventually it will mean a university—something not merely an appendage to an agricultural centre.”
