PROGRESSIVE PALMERSTON

NEW BUSINESS BLOCK. Another large three-floor . business block is now nearing completion and will shortly add to the architectural aspect of the westorn quarter of the Square. The rapid advancement of the commercial importance of Palmerston North is reflected in the modern and pretentious structures, which materially add to the beauty of this thriving centre. Several months ago a commencement was made with the constructional work of the new three-floor building for the Coombs’ Estate. The imposing edifice is now nearing completion and all that remains to be done is mainly interior work, so that the contractors expect to finish’ the minor details by the end of September. . , , , . The block is being constructed ot ferro-ooncrete throughout, and will present a handsome elevation to the Square. Provision is being made for shops and offices, two electric elevators providing transport to the higher floors. Very shortly the contractors will commence the construction of another block which will extend from the present building to the hotel situated on the corner of Alain street, the two sections forming ono considerable block with a Square frontage of 91 feet and a depth of 101 feet.
