PLAYING WITH DEATH
BOY' AND MOTOR CAR. PASSENGERS INJURED. SYDNEY, .July 16. It is said to be a favourite game* or Kogarah youngsters to see how often they can cross tho road before approaching motor cars. It is sport for tho boys, but to-day it was nearly death to the motorists. As a car driven by Mr Aboud was on the way to Wollongong a boy of .10 or so ran. across tho road.. In trying to avoid the boy Mr Aboud swerved tho car, which nearly capsized. In righting it the driver hit a telegraph polo fair and square. 1 Tho car was badly damaged- The back axlo and tho steering-gear were broken. • It was found that Mr Aboud had three ribs broken, but Mr Backhouse, who was besido him, escaped injury. Mr Malouf, who was in the back seat, had his skull fractured, and his nose broken. Mr Russell Orr .received shock and bruises, while Mr Howard and another passenger- wero uninjured. It was when some inquiries about the boy-were made after the accident that a resident told of the “running tho gauntlet” game. Mr Aboud was taken to St. George Hospital, and afterwards to his homo at Ashfield.
