PRICE-RAISING RINGS.

INVESTIGATION PROMISED. LONDON, June 20. The Shipbuilding Committee on June 19 published a report severely criticising the price-raising rings, charging from 100 to 200 per cent above pre-war prices for lead, paint, upholstery, ropes, electrical cables, castings l , and sanitary outfits, while, selling to foreigners cheaper than to British shipbuilders. The Board of Trade has promised an investigation with a view to relief, and adds that greater elasticity of organisation and loyal observance of the 47hour week will enable a greater portion of the ship-repairing now going on on the Continent to be retained in Britain. —Sydney Sun cable.
