MANAWATU-OROUA BOARD’S SCHEME. BOROUGH CITED AS BENEFICIARY. When advised at its previous meeting that it was proposed to cite the Borough Council as a beneficiary under the Manawatu-Oroua River Board s scheme, in connection with 1 which a commission has been set up to apportion tho cost, the council decided to object to its inclusion. . , A. letter received &t last evening s meeting from the borough solicitor, however, advised that, under section 11 of tho Manawatu-Oroua River District Board Amendment Act, 1920, power was given to include the borough at the instance of the River Board, and it was for the commission set up to decide if the proposed works of the board were likely to benefit tlio borough and. if so, what contribution it should make. , ~ , Mr R Watson, S.M., advised that he would, as soon as possible, notify the council of the date and place of the inquiry. , . Cr Fitzherbert moved, and it uns carried, that the Mayor, Cr. Edwards and the engineer represent the council at the sitting of the commission, evidence on behalf of the council to be secured in the interim.
