MR BALDWIN ON SCOTSMEN.-

LONDON, June 8

“I profoundly admire the characteristics of the Scottish race—their love of thrift, education, and adventure—which have come down from tho North as a salt to purify and strengthen the British stock,” ■said the Prime Minister (Mr Baldwin), after receiving the freedom of the City of Edinburgh. He added: “Their love of education for its own sake and their high spirit of adventure have done more than anything to make Scotsmen known from Pole to Pole and respected in’ all the continents of the world.”
