EGYPTIAN PARLIAMENT.
QUIET OPENING. AAIBIGUOUS SPEECH. Received June 12, 8.5 a.m. CAIRO, June 11. King Fuad opened Parliament. The inauguration was peaceful. The Speech from the Throne was read by Adly Pasha and was a masterpiece of ambiguity. It said that steps would be takento bring about the admission of Egypt to the League of Nations. The Government intended to enforce respect for tho constitution, to safeguard the rights of foreigners and especially aimed at the re-establish-ment of" cordial Anglo-European relations. There was enthusiastic applause when it was announced that Egypt had not abandoned her claims in the Soudan.—A. and- N.Z. cable.
