THE EX-KAISER.
INTEREST IN MEMOIRS. PUBLICATION AWAITED. ' POLITICAL CRISIS LIKELY. LONDON, June 10. The Daily News says that prominent Germans are apprehensive of the publication of the ex-Kaiser’s memoirs which, it is feared, will result in a political crisis. It transpires that there was an almost open breach between the exKaiser and the Crown Prince in 1923, owing to tho Monarchists demanding that the ex-Kaiser abdicate in favour of the Crown Prince in tliri event of tho overthrow of the Republicans. Tho ex-Kaiser thereupon secretly intrigued in Germany, with the assistance of Ludeiulorff, thereby splitting the Monarchists. He also refused to allow the ex-Crown Princo or the Monarchists to read the memoirs prior to their publication, because they include revelations of post-war events which the ex-Kaiser promised not to publish. The Monarchists burgled the printers’ offices and stole the rough proofs, which confirmed suspicions that the memoirs contained these facts in three now suppressed chapters, the first entitled, “I Shall Reign Again,” derailing the Monarchists’ activities, the second declaring that President Hindenburg had accepted the Presidency with the idea of assisting the fx-Kaiser to regain his throne, and tho third entitled, “A Son’s Perfidy,” consisting of an astounding outburst against tbe Crown Prince. It is believed that the. memoirs accuse prominent Republicans of supporting tlie Monarchists in an effort to persuade the ex-Kaiser to withdraw. If he refuses, it is believed that the Government will suppress the memoirs.—A. and N.Z. cable.
