DANGEROUS RAILWAY CROSSING.
KIWITAHI DEATHTRAP. MORRINSVILLE, April 7. Judging by the number of accidents that occur at railway crossings, any road that crosses a railway line is a danger, but when a road passes through a cutting, which is adjacent to the railway lino, the risk of accident is increased considerably. One such crossing exists right alongside the Iviwitahi railway station where tho road turns on a sharp bend and passes through a cutting before it crosses tho line, there being no possible chance of tho driver of a vehicle seeing the approach of a train till he is right on tile line. At a recent meeting of settlers, this crossing was characterised as a deathtrap and it was decided to send a letter to the Minister of Railways, through the member for the district, drawing his attention to tho dangerous state of the crossing.
