RIGOROUS MEASURES TAKEN. CAPETOWN, April 6. Rigorous military measures succeeded in ending the railway strike at Lorenco Marques after four months. Prisoners, however, are still carried as hostages for the safety of trains and deportations continue, the strikers being replaced by importations. the climax was reached when the Commissioner of Police, MrdeSolsa, was riddled with bullets. He dined at the Cordoza hotel and while walking to headquarters two concealed men opened fire and fourteen bullets pieroea his body.—Sydney Sun cable.
