STRIKE THREATENED.
AUSTRALIAN COALFIELD. SYDNEY, April 6. A meeting of the Newcastle branch of the Engine-drivers’ and Firemen’s Federation discussed grievances and expressed dissatisfaction at the award granted by the Coal Commission. It was decided to recommend at two aggregate meetings to be held, on the coalfields that 14 days’ notice be given of their intention to strike. f The intention expressed at the meeting was that tho men were going to attempt to stop all work on tlie whole of the coalfields of the State.
A meeting on the Maitland field carried a similar motion.—Press Association.
