MINER DIES.
WHILE UNDER ANAESTHETIC
EVERY PRECAUTION TAKEN,

GREYMOUTH, April 7,
At the inquest on Henry Houghton, aged 61, a miner of Dunollie, who died on Monday in tho Grey. River Hospital while under an anaesthetic for an operation, t Mr Meld rum, the coroner, returned *a verdict that death ■was due to respiratory failure during an operation for peritonitis; that the operation was necessary to prevent certain death, and that every precaution was taken by tho doctors.
