EUROPEAN UNITY.
GERMAN ASSURANCES.
DRAMATIC SCENE
LONDON, March 25. There was a dramatic moment in the Free Church Assembly, in Wales, when the Rev. Howell Lewis, president, invited Doctor Deissman, the German Biblical scholar, and M. Paul. Fuzier, a French official, to stand beside him on the platform. Tho whole assembly, some moved to tears, stood while Mr Lewis prayed, and quoted Psalm 133: “Behold ljow good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity,” and invoked peace for the brotherhood of nations. Dr Deissmann declared that the future was hopeless without tho noble conciliation and co-operation of nil countries, to be realised through the League of Nations. He regretted that tho Geneva delegates, instead of gathering all nations around the dinner table, had divided themselves into antagonistic tea parties. Ho assured Franco that an overwhelming majority of Germans, were enthusiastically seeking a friendly settlement of Franco-German questions.
