FISHING AT RUSSELL.
VISIT OF. THE WARSHIPS. ADDITIONAL CAPTURES. RUSSELL, April 2. Tho commodore and officers of H.M.S. Dunedin and H.M.S. Diomede, struck bad easterly weather for their swordfishing at Russell. They got three fine swordfish tho first day, and if tho fine weather had continued they would have had a great time. Five of the officers became members of the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club, and some of them hope to do some fishing later in the season. Further catches are:— Dr. Barton, Sydney, swordfish, 2901 b; Mr C. W isoman, Auckland, swordfish, 2221 b; Colonel Phipps, Australia, swordfish, 2501 b; Mr G. S. lteade, England, malco, 2401 b; Captain Ritchie, H.M.S. Diomede, swordfish, 2641 b; Commander H. Godfrey, H.M.S. Diomede, swordfish, 2751 b; Engineer-Commander R. M. Jones, H.M.S. Diomede, swordfish, 2601 b.
The. mako of 4281 b caught by Mr Marsden Caughey, Auckland, lias been beaten by Mr M. W. A. Horne, of To Kuiti, who secured one of 4341 b, establishing a new record for the season.
