A sad case ot delusional insanity, in which a patient Buffering from religious mania carried out the Scriptural doctrine o:: "ye work not neither shall yc eat," to the letter and starved himself to death in consequence was shown at the inquest held here. The father said that for nearly twelve months his son, who was aged 26, had been an inmate of tho Tokanui mental hospital, where, as he was not allowed to work, he refused to eat. A week ago his condition was so weak that the superintendent said he could no longer forcibly feed him, and preferred that he should bo removed home, which was clone, and his son died within a week. The medical evidence showed that deatli was caused by exhaustion arising from starvation as the result of delusional insanity. .
