GOVERNOR-GENERAL
VISITS TO BULLS AND MARTON. As mentioned in tho “Standard” yesterday His Excellency the GovornorGenoral and Lady Fergusson, after visiting Flock House, continued on to Bulls and Marton, where civic receptions were accorded Their Excellencies. There was a very large attendance at Bulls and the township was beflagged. Somo 400 children from the neighbouring schools were assembled, together with Scouts and Cubs of the local troops. The chairman of the town board (Mr H. McManaway) extended a welcome on behalf of tho residents of the settlement, Sir J. G. Wilson on behalf of the Manawatu County, and Mr J. Linklatcr, M.P., on behalf of the Manawatu electorate. Sir James ’Wilson spoke of tlie early days of the district in which he had spent 60 years of his lise, while Mr Linklater assured Their Excellencies of the absolute loyalty of this farming community. Ho trusted that on some future occasion Their Excellencies might pay another visit to Bulls and that their stay, in the Dominion would be a most enjoyable one. Lady Alice was presented with a bouquet from the children and His Excellency, before leaving, placed a wreath of remembrance on the soldiers’ memorial. Rain militated against a prolonged outdoor ceremony at Marton, but a rousing welcome was not dampened. The ex-servicemen, scouts, and children were addressed. Later the Huntley private school and the Nga Tawa diocesan school were inspected, and His Excellency was presented with an illuminated address from the borough. The party later left for the north.
