ROOTS IN THE AIR.
COBMAN’S PROPHECY,
EMPIRE OF THE FUTURE
LONDON, March 20. “The Empire of the future will havo its roots in the air,” said Captain Alan Cobliam, the famous airman (who contemplates a night to Australia), at the Aldwych Club. “Europe,” he added, “is one of the world’s worst places for flying; Egypt is one of the best, despite its sandstorms.” The British Empire was unlike other countries, notably in that it lacked national living propaganda. Hero-worship hindered aviation. As long as an aviator was regarded as a brave man aviation would never sueceed. Personally, he thought motoring in London streets was more dangerous.
