LONDON W T OOL SALES.

Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date of the 23rd inst.: —The list of arrivals for the March series will close on the Ist March. The final wool sales for this season will take place on 6th April, 14th September, and 23rd November. SYDNEY SALES. GOOD CLEARANCES EFFECTED. SYDNEY. Feb. 17. The series of wool sales has concluded. There was a good general demand and good clearances were effected at prices fully equal to late rates. Greasy merino sold to 26Jd. The next series of sales commences on March 8. —Press Association. MARTON SHOW. OPENED BY HON. A. D. McLEOD. RECORD ENTRIES. Favoured by excellent weather conditions, the 13th annual show of the Marten A. and P. Association was held at Marton Junction yesterday, when there was a record attendance ef the public. The entries also constituted a record. , In offidially declaring the fixture osen, Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, congratulated the association on the number and quality of the exhibits. At all times it gave him pleasure to meet the men on thg land, who, after all, were the backbone of the country. Regarding the work of the Lands Department, he could say that it had done a lot for farmers, but he realised that there was yet a great deal to be done . The farmer was being educated to produce the best and when that was being done there need be no fear for the future of the Dominion.

The work that the Minister had accomplished as head of the Lands Department was fittingly referred to by the president of the association, Mr H. 8. C. Morrison, Mr Stuart, a member of the executive, and Mr Glenn, M.P. -THE PRIZE LIST.

Wilson one. In the cattle section Levin'breeders were very successful. Feilding Agri-

cultural College was the only exhibitor in the Red Poll classes. There was good competition in most of the sheep classes, wherein Feilding and lower Rangitikei breeders made a good showing. , In the maiden pony jump Miss Southey Baker, of Palmerston North, carried off premier honours, while J. Shaw, also of , Palmerston North, secured second in the open hunters : competition and third in the jump.
