REDUCED BUTTER SHIPMENTS

CRITICISM IN BRITAIN. LONDON, Jan. 24. The "Westminster Gazette, in an editorial, says: “Before it can approve of the expenditure of a million a year to advertiso Empire goods, the Government should explain why it has not protested against tho New Zealand Dairy Board's reducing butter shipments between now and August to the extent of 10,000 tons, compared with 1925, for the purpose of supplying tho United States, which offered higher prices. “This is merely a foretaste of what the board is likely to do when it controls produce valued at £20,000,000 a year. Australia is organising a similar control of foodstuffs and wool, proving tho short-sightedness of tho ‘Buy British Goods’ campaign, and the fundamental fallacy of the Government’s Imperialist protection policy.” —A. and N.Z. cable.
