TANGIMOANA.

Suggestions have been made on various occasions that a telephone office should be established at Tangimoana. This seaside resort is growing in popularity and there are now somewhere about one hundred and fifty residences in the village. During the Christmas and New Year holidays and, again, at Easter all these are occupied by the owners and if is calculated quite 600 people are located there at thosfe periods. Some of the visitors certainly do not remain there very long, whereas others are in residence during the full holiday terms. Then, there are numerous weekenders and others who go into residence at the seaside for short periods throughout the year.

And the permanent residents are increasing in number. On the whole the village is fairly well patronised during the year. The necessity' for telephonic communication with Tangimoana has been mentioned on various occasions for some time past and it seems the department would now bo justified in acceding to the request. Until a few months ago there were obstacles in the way of this being done, but with the establishment of a post office those obstacles have now been removed. The nearest public telephone is at Carnarvon, five miles away, the distance preventing its use by Tangimoana residents as frequently as it might be if more accessible.
