LETTER OF ABDICATION. AUTHENTICITY DENIED. LONDON, Jan. 20. , Tho Daily Telegraph’s Romo corres-j pondent says the "surprising statement' was made at an interview by the: Dowager Queen Olga of Greece, who! is residing in Rome, that tho letter read ■ by. King Ferdinand at tho State' Council, containing Prince Carol’s abdication, was never written by the Prince. Ho was not even aware of its contents. Queen Olga continued: “I; do not believe this lovo adventure will have any lasting effect on Prince! Carol. It is a passing caprice, of which political intriguers, took advantage. Some days ago Prince Carol spoke of his being a compulsory exile from the country, his wife and his son, whom he adored, and in writing to a ■ friend recently declared that he him- j self was the victim of a foul political intrigue.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
