TOKIO AFFAIR.
FOREIGN OFFICE EMBARRASSED. INSULT TO IMPERIAL HOUSE. TOKIO, Jan. 12. Tho affray in which the Brazilian Ambassador to Japan, Senor Chermont, figured in Tokio on Friday, when he fought with the police who sought to prevent him from crossing a street which had been cleared for the passage for tho Prince Regent, is embarrassing tho Foreign Office. Its officials are hourly berated by mem•'ers of the reactionary societies for their failure to adequately resent tho “insult to the Imperial House.” The Black Dragon Society has presented a demand that the Embassy and tho envoy should immediately leave Japan, where, tho society says, it has shown itself unfit to stay. The police, day and night, guard the Em bassy, which the envoy does not leave. Tho bodyguards attending the Prime Minister, Viscount Kato, and Ministers, have also been increased, as the press is lashing tho public into fury endeavouring to make political capital out of tho incident.
