RUGBY TOUR.
MAORI TEAM FOR FRANCE. CERTAIN TO EVENTUATE. Mr S. S. Doan, chairman of tho management committee of tho New Zealand Rugby Union, informed a Wellington newspaper representative on Tuesday that the visit of a Maori team to France would eventuate. Advice had been received from the French Rugby Federation that it had appointed a French tourist agency to make arrangements for the tour. Tho information had also been received that passages for the Maoris had been pencilled for the team to travel by tho Messageries Maritimes Lino from Sydney to Marseilles. It was anticipated that the team would be required to leave New Zealand in July, but definito information on this and other matters was expected shortly in reply to a cablegram sent by the New Zealand Union'.
Advice has been received from England that tho English Rugby Union is likely to extend an invitation to the Australian Rugby authorities to send an Australian team to England in the 1927-28 season. Mr Dean also stated that at the last meeting of tho English Rugby Union it was decided to urge tho utmost necessity for the establishment of an advisory board on the lines advocated at the Imperial conference in 1924.
