BUCKLEY DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

SITTING OF COMMISSION. (From Our Shannon Correspondent.) A few months ago a petition was received by the Minister of Internal Affairs praying that a certain area of land be included in tho Buckley drainage district. A commission consisting of Messrs T. A. Johnfiton, resident engineer Public Works Department, Shannon, N. H. Mackie, district valuer, Palmerston North, and S. A. Br.idbelt, farmer, Ihakara, was set up to hear objections. The commission sat at Shannon on Tuesday. Mr G. Watson, of Wellington, acted for tho objectors. Evidence was given by Messrs Taylor, Hudson, Law, McGill, Campbell and Speirs. The commission then adjourned until a later date when further evidence will be beard and in tho meantime an inspection will bo made of the locality.
