Thero was a fair attendance) of tho pub: lie at tho ovening mooting of tho Feilding Amateur Athlotio Club, held on Kowhai Pork last night. Tho three events drew good fields and resultod in good finishes, following wore tho results: 440 yards handicap.—Poolo (50 yards) 1, O. Scotnoy (16 yards) 2, R. Scotney (50 yards) 3. Won by 5 yards; timo 50 sco. Also ran: —Bray (25 yards), Sowerly (30), Spademan (35), Duthie, Johnston and Reid (40). 75 yards handicap.—lst heat: Rosomon (7 yds) 1, Bray (5 yds) 2. Eourio (4 yds) 3. 2nd heat: Smith (8 yds) 1, Roid (6 yds) 2, Bengo (7 yds) 3. Final: Rosoman 1, Lourio 2, Bray 3. Won by inches; timo 7isecs. Tli© Bth annual sal© of stud and flock Romney rams on behalf of the estate of tho lato Ernest Short and Mr Norman J. Short was held on the Showgrounds, Foilding, yesterday. Tho sal© attracted a largo attendance, buyers being present from all parts or the Dominion. Bidding was keen and spirited and most lots were sold under tho hammer at prices well lip to tho average. Tho highest prico given for a stud ram from tho Parorangi estato was 185 guineas by Johnston Bros., of Waipukurau. Other good prices realised wore 182jgns. .by A. Robertson, Otaki; 180gns. by Wm. Stewart, Kiwitea; 160gns. by E. E. Short, Foilding; and 150gns. by Blair find Hunter. Tho average prico realised bv rams from tho estato of Ernest Short was 80gns. and by rams from Mr Norman Short’s homestead oOgns. Parorangi flock rams averaged I2gns. and Mr Norman Short’s flock lams lOgns. A few of tho former were passed in but all of Mr Norman Short’s woro sold, prices ranging from Bgns. to 26gns.
