SCOUT JAMBOREE.

OPENS AT DUNEDIN

MESSAGE FROM PRINCE OF WALES.

DUNEDIN, Jan. 11. Tho biggest scout Jamboree held south of tho lino opened at Tahuna Park this morning, where more than 1000 scouts from all parts of tho Dominion, South Africa, Victoria, and New South Wales are assembled under canvas, under Commissioner J. D. Campbell, of Itaratonga. At tho opening ceremony this morning messages wero read from Chief Scout General Sir Robert Baden Powell and the Prince of Wales, who expressed pleasure at tho holding of tho jamboree, stating that lie still retained tho happiest memories of many scouts ho had met during his New Zealand visit.

Addresses were delivered by tho Mayor, Mr H. L. Taulcy, M.P., and Commissioner Campbell. Tho flag was hoisted and saluted, and tho whole of tho camp repeated tho scout’s oath. The routine of tho camp was then commenced. During tho jamboree the scouts will give several displays at tho exhibition.
