MINING INDUSTRY.
COAL COMMISSION’S REPORT. MAY FAVOUR STATE ACQUISITION. Received January 11, 10.25 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 10. The Sunday Express says that State acquisition of the country’s mining rights is almost certain to ofnn the basis of the Coal Commission’s report, probably with compensation for royalty to the owners by the issue of Government stock.
There probably will be a minority report indicating strong differences of opinion on the subject of the reorganisation of the industry and the reintroduction of the eight-hour day.—A. and N.Z. cable ani Reuter.
