IN HOROWHENUA COUNTY. ENGINEER’S REPORT. In his report to the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council on Saturday, the engineer, Mr AV. N. Anderson, referring to the main highways, said: “Good progress is being mado with tho survey and plans of the LevmPott’s road section on tho Levin-Palm-erston North highway. Tho formation work on tho Levin-Manakau section is nearing completion and tho foundation metal course from Kimberley road to Waikawa bridge has been completed. The crushing plant is still at work at the deviation south of the Waikawa bridge. Tho plans and specifications for the Waikanae-Otaki bridge section (9 miles) and tho Manakau-Lcvin section (8 miles) have been approved by the Highways Board. A start will bo made with tho formation work on tho Waikanae-Otaki . bridge section on Wednesday. All arrangements have been mado for camps, etc., in connection with this work. The big crushing plant at Malmnoa is practically completed and everything should bo in readiness for a start to be made with crushing operations early next week. Tho bitumen sprayer and boiler came to hand early in tho period and a start will be mado with tho laying of bitumen within tho next few days.— Adopted.
